Advert Conventions

I have included a variety of conventions on my advert to make it look realistic, the first thing i used was the artists name so that the audience can see whos album it is

 I also added 'TB Productions' logo on the bottom to show the record label, as well as this i added the spotify logo, Itunes logo and youtube logo to show where the songs can be bought/streamed online, I also included a dolby digital logo to show that it can be bought on a CD..

 Lastly, I included 'IGNITION' to show what song is being advertised and 'IN STORES NOW' so the audience know they are able to purchase the song straight away.

Finished Advert

After playing around with the idea of adding in a fairground ride in the background I went against it because it didn't work well with the background and looked out of place, instead I chose an image that was relevent to music video and used a picture I took of Pippa while out filming. 

On the bottom I also added 3 logos being iTunes, Spotify and Youtube to show sites the song can be streamed on.

Advert Ideas

After trying with a few ideas to make my advert seem more summer like I added in a swimming pool onto the background, although I am looking to add another image onto the left hand side of the page and add more logos of sites to do with the song onto the bottom of my advert. 

For the image I am looking to add in a image that is relevent to the music video or something summer like, if I add in a image of something to do with summer I am going to look at silloutes of fariground rides such as a rollercoaster going in the background.

Advert Progress

For my advert I have included the artists name, the song title and 'In stores now' so the audience know they are able to buy it, I have also included the 'TB Production' logo and Dolby Digital logo with a Picture of jack going over the whole advert.

Advert Images

For my advert advertising the song 'Ignition' I am planning to have a poster featuring an image of Jack from one side, and the picture of Pippa below flipped horizontally with a summer theme running in the background.

Advert Style Model

unfortunately there are little music release adverts that can be found online, because of this I have used popular artist Taylor Swift as a style model for my advert, although my advert will look different to this it will feature similar conventions to make it look real.

Finished Digipack

Below is my completed digipack, I feel I have added all the needed conventions to create a successful digipack.

Digipack Conventions

I tried to make my digipack look as realistic as possible, to do this I included the record label 'TB Productions' logo and underneath a link to Jack (the artist) and the record labels websites, I also wrote the copyright text stating how this CD cannot be used.

After this I added a barcode to the right hand side on the back of the digipack, as most digipacks do include barcodes

For the spine i included the artists name and the name of the album, I also found that the record label is commonly featured on the spine so I decided to add this in white so it would stand out.

Digipack back cover

As the album was called 'Happy Days' it was important to me to make sure all the songs wouldn't go against the title name, with song names such as "perfect strangers", "thats what I like" and "is this love" I feel it gives off a happy vibes that fit in with the style of the album.

Planning Conventions

I have completed the first draft of my back page, looking at similar albums I have seen that they commonly feature copyright symbols and text to do with the distrubtion and how the CD can and cannot be used, they also feature barcodes to make it scanable in shops and website links to the relevent pages. I also plan to add the 'TB Productions' logo aswell as many CDs feature the record label on the back.

Digipack Progress

I have come used a basic template to plan out my digipack for the CD, I have created a first draft for the front and back page and chosen the picture and gradient I will use for them, I will next work on the other two pages and then go over the whole digipack to add in small details and improve it overall

Digi Pack Images

For my digipack I have used the following two images on the front cover and inside page, the first picture will be used for the front cover of my digi pack and I will edit to make the sky lighter, the second image will be used on the inside cover page as Pippa was the main actor featured in the video.

Digipack Stylemodel

For my digipack I will be using this as a style model to guide me on the layout and conventions, I will mainly focus on this being a style model for the front and back cover.

Linking the lip syncing to the stylemodel

As one of my style models 'American Authors - Best Day Of My Life' show a happy video and lip sync I wanted to take ideas from the movement they use in their music video so I can portray the same happy feeling. In alot of their shots the lead singer commonly moves his hand to emphasis the his feelings and happiness, so for my music video I asked my actor to do the same but to make the movements linked to the song and the lyrics.

Editing the conventions

 For my music video I added in conventions to make it look more like a real music video, the first convention was the record label on the first shot, the second was the artists name and song title on the second shot and the last was the promotion for the music video on the last shot. To make them appear more naturally I split each convention into three pieces, the first clip was to change the opacity from 0 to 100 so it faded in, the middle was the clip at 100% so it stayed on for a long enough amount of time, the last clip was of the opacity changing from 100% to 0% so it faded out naturally, this allowed me to make the conventions look like they were more naturally coming onto the screen instead of them just appearing disappearing. Although for the last convention as the the music video ends on the convention of the "out now" I only split this into 2 clips and didnt fade it back out.

Video Conventions

For my music video at the start I deicided to add the 'TB Productions' logo on my first shot to show the record label, on the second shot I then put the artist name and the song to introduce it to the audience with a white line inbetween to show its two separate texts.

At the end of the video I featured a promotion for the new album by Jack, with the album cover, 'OUT NOW' and 3 music sites featured on the last shot, the last shot then fades the black leaving the promotion on a black background for a few seconds in silence

Editing Lip Syncing

Editing the lip syncing has taken longer than expected to sort all the clips out in order and shorten them to fit in to the sections needed, it also took time to match Jacks mouth to the lyrics to make it look realistic.

Jacks Final Filming Day

After filming with Jack I have got all the footage I need to edit my music video to complete it, some of the parts Jack had to lip sync went quite fast making it hard to look like the lip syncing matches the lyrics but I have filmed a few shots of each part so I can find the best one to match the lyrics, overall the filming went successful and will hopefully fit into the video with no issues. While filming I also managed to get pictures for some of the ancillary tasks.

Changes to lip syncing

One the first day of filming with jack the first shot with Jack lip syncing the lyrics "Go head' on and break 'em off wit a lil' previews of the remix" proved difficult, as this is a remixed version of the song and is speeded up I changed what Jack would do inside the shot" as there are lyrics before this that Jack can lip sync and it wouldn't look right if half of it was replaced with a different shot he is now going to put Sunglasses on over them lyrics.

Changes to Jacks acting

As the song comes across as a confident male, and good times I am going to change the way Jack acts in his shots, as I need to refilm his scenes anyway I will be asking him to be more confident and dance in a modern/confident way to the music, I am hoping he is able to portray a 'cocky' confident character to the audience who is just looking for fun.

Changes to Jacks outfit

After filming and going through the clips I noticed that he looked around quite abit and wasn't focused on the camera, because of this I have deicided to get him to wear sunglasses, aswell as not letting audience see where he's looking it also helps to add to the summer theme of the music video.

Jacks first filming day

I managed to film most of Jacks lip syncing shots today, after reviewing the footage I have decided to change some parts of the song that he sings to make it easier for him as some of the filming has not gone to plan, I also didn't managed to get any pictures for my ancillary tasks so on the next filming day I will also get pictures of him aswell.

Jacks Clothing

Firstly I will be asking Jack to wear a pair of beats to resemble to the audience his love and passion for music.

When I started planning my video as Jacks hair grows into an afro style I asked him if he could grow his hair out for the music video, this is because one of the lines says "Running her hands through my 'fro", 'fro' is short for Afro so I will be able to film jack putting his hand through his hair keeping the shots linked to the music video.

Planning another filming day

For the lip syncing shots with Jack I will be using a different location, to keep the focus on Jack I will be filming against a plain coloured wall, this will show the difference between the narrative side of the music video and the performance side. I have yet to decide if I want to have Jacks shot in colour or edited in black and white.

Best Day Of My Life Style Model

Aswell as sunshine another of my style models is best day of my life by the American Authors, which is an upbeat happy song which links well with the theme of my video, one of there scenes includes them playing basketball which represents them having a good time.

Aswell as my stylemodel Sunshine influcing me to include a scene of Pippa and Penny playing football, this is also another reason why. I have taken the idea of sports from the American Authors which shows a good times and incorperated this into my video using a different sport.

Relevance to the theme

To keep the theme of happiness I added a shot of Penny and Pippa walking past a circus as the circus is accossiated with having a fun time and happiness. I used a wide shot to fit in the sign of the circus and Penny and Pippa walking past it.

Effects used

One of the effects that I have deicided to add into the end of the video is a long shot of Penny and Pippa playing and changed the opacity to 45%, underneath this I included 4 different other videos of Penny and Pippa walking and playing which almost shows a 'summary' of the day to the audience showing its nearing the end. I think ending is effective and keeps the audience engaged and almost adds an emotional touch of happiness that the audience will feel.

Diegetic and Non-diegetic sounds

While editing my video I played around with the audio of the clips and debating on keep some of the sound on to add diegetic sounds to the video. Overall I went against this idea for various reasons

• Firstly the audio of the clips wasn't the best due to filming on the seafront, as the wind was hitting the microphone on the camera
• Another thing was that on some of the clips with better audio there wasn't much sound or when there was it didn't work in time with the music and took over the audio of the music
• For the lip syncing shots I also plan to remove the audio as in the background will be the song playing so my actor can sing in time and it would also have my actors voice going over the audio which wouldn't work and would make him look like he wasn't the artist performing but instead singing along

Overall, I have chosen to remove all audio clips from the music video and not add any diegetic music ontop of the shots.

Making the video enjoyable

I want to create a happy upbeat video that the audience can enjoy and find funny, to make the audience laugh and feel happy from the video I included shots of Pippa trying to catch the sand, as this is something she already does I took advantage of this and included short videos of her doing this, and after listening to the audience feedback they agreed that it was funny and added to the enjoyment and happiness of the video.

Editing

I have finished editing all the parts with Pippa and Penny in although I may make some changes for the final piece, I have yet to film and edit in all the parts that Jack will be lip syncing although after the editing I have done so far I have changed some of Jacks lip syncing shots and deicided to give him some different parts as Penny and Pippas footage worked better in the place where Jack was suppose to be lip syncing. The editing I have done so far has given me a guideline of where to put Jacks shots and has helped to shape the music video more and I think the order of filming days I chose has helped to choose some changes I wanted to make in the video plan.
